A new version of BS Backup can be found here:

http://www.fial.com/bob/partscatalog/download.php

2 major improvements:
  1. re-tries to download a file if it get server error messages
  2. will now download all folders in a root folder that spans multiple pages

it is highly recommended that you get this new version. As traffic increase there will be more and more problems with server errors, time outs and lockups.

And please everyone use some DELAY in your downloads, server traffic is only going to get worse as it gets closer to the end of the month.

Hi, Bob.

Thank you so much for works!
You've made an impressive wide way for our Exodus.

In Japan, my LEGO-mate MUTCHY localized your software for Japanese.
Many J-FOL (including Kids can't understand English)
can save files of her/himself by using BS-Backup Ver.0.0.14/J.

Since MUTCHY has no user-account at LUGNET now,
so I extend our deepest appreciation for your effort,
report current situation,
and seek retrospective approval for localization of your software.

We shall overcome this "JULY-DESTRUCTION" together, hand in hand with.
Yes, We'll.

If someone want to use MUTCHY's Japanese interface version,
Here you can download.

i'm really glad that people are getting good use of BS Backup.  Thank you for
all the kind words that you and everyone else has sent.

any modifications needed to the software done by me or others are ok with me.
the more people that can be helped with modifications and improvements the
better.

I can’t thank you enough for your very easy to use and highly effective software!!!!!!! Without it, I was not looking forward to manually backing up hundreds of pics from BS. I was one of those unfortunate users (losers) that did not have almost any of my BS images on my local HD or even a CD. At first, I was pretty much ready to cry at the loss of all of my MOC pictures since I don’t even have the Lego that I used to in order to recreate them in the Real World when I first heard about BS being gone at such short notice like it was originally. But I quietly ITAMO just figuring that I should learn my lesson about not backing up my pictures.

So now thanks to your AWESOME program, I have all of the pics from BS on my local drive and a flash memory stick.

You truly are a Community Hero in my book!!

Thanks again for helping a poor schmuck like me kind sir!

:-)

Bob - is there a way to modify BS Backup when attempting to download via source directory to not have to verify user directory?

An example - I want gallery 241544 but when I enter that into BSBackup I get an error:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=241544 ** ERROR - i can’t find this user directory. Please check the USER ID.

it’s because that directory really is missing. it’s starting to look like you can only download your own directory if you are logged in. i just made changes to BS Backup so you can login to your account and download your personal directory or any directory that you know the username and password for. get it here: http://www.fial.com/bob/partscatalog/download.php

does it make sence for everyone to change thier password to something generic so everyone can login to thier account? if so how do you change your password? i can’t find a link.

this new version also has code for getting around proxy servers, though it is not tested because we don’t have a proxy here.

It’s obvious Kevin has a reason for doing this, and it’s likely to be that his server is getting pounded. If we choose to circumvent it, he will most likely do something else to reduce the load, maybe even take the site down early. I would suggest that is NOT a good thing.

You get this error when the folder is not moderated yet.

Hope this helps.

(beta tester for BsBackup and one who has lots of experience with it (and the one who suggested it long time ago)).

P.S. Bob, thanks for these new versions after a very long time.
