Hi,
What's the best Star Wars set for us Castle nuts? I've heard all about that
grey plates pack (aka 7151 Sith Infiltrator), but grey plates aren't that high
on my priority list. So I'm looking for suggestions, or convince me that the
7151 is worth it (does it have any grey bricks?).
In case you're wondering, it has to be a SW set because my local TRU is having
20% off that theme only...

Here is what I found useful:
<set:7110> Landspeeder. Two great peasants, two gray macaroni bricks, and
plenty of tan elements.
Downside: The engines are not too useful. (Challenge 1: Incorportate
them into the castle theme).
<set:7115> Gungan Patrol - More torsos, two cool circular plats, and the
creatures are cool alternatives to horses and dragons. Gray corner pieces.
Downside: Jar Jar heads ...
<set:7121> Naboo Swamp - the one I have the most of. Blue plate, brown
bricks, and general forset stuff. Some key brown elements.
Downside: None really .. sell off the droids:) Well - maybe the Jar Jar.
<set:7184> Trade Federation ATT - plenty of good bricks and plates.
Downside: Help?
I also like Boba Fett's Slave 1, but that's sort of for selfish needs:

I'm kinda running out. Oh well - my City Inside the Forest will soon be
done and another chapter in the Verneer Chronicles can be written.

<set:7184> Trad Federation MTT - this set's got a lot of bricks, if you're
looking for a lot of tan and brown ones. There's also a very nice selection
of grey and dark grey bricks.

Dude, that city's gonna look spectacular! I can't wait to see it finished! I
saw it about a month ago in your site's parent directory, but I didn't want to
spill the beans for ya. Speaking of stories, my story should be done in about
a week. Prepare yourselves. . .it's coming. :)

Whoops, sorry about that, I wasn't checking the links. I thought you meant

Yeah I've got 5 of these. The blue plates and brown bricks are great! But
I'm stuck with the transparent clear pieces. Looks like I'll be getting more
of these then, based on your comments. :)

I certainly didn't have an interest in a Sith Infiltrator or Gungan Sub for my
Castles of Pirates stuff, but I found a WalMart that has them for $10 each.
Open 'em for parts or just hang onto to 'em for now and trade/sell 'em later
to get real Castles stuff?

I'd be inclined to open them for parts. The SW sets (especially, it seems the
Sith Infiltrator) have done a fairly decent job of saturating the market, so
you'd have to hang onto them for quite a while before getting a good return.
Parts, however, gets you a good return right now. (mmmm....grey plates...mmmm)

You shouldn't have trouble getting rid of these if you don't find a use
for them yourself. The transparent Star Wars laser cannon piece is
usefull for putting flying creatures up in the air. The whole stand of
course would be usefull in a Brikwars game for flyers. The transparent
radar dish has been used for force shields and other magical effects,
and probably additional uses could be found for them.

The Gungan sub is also a very good parts pack. It isn't mentioned as
often (it's almost a well kept secret). Lots of dark grey and blue
slopes and plates. A bunch of useful figures (which you don't get so
many of in the Sith Infiltrator), a few plant pieces, a clam, a blue
anchor (I'll be using these to distinguish some of my pirate ships "my
ship is the BSB with the blue anchor"). The only less usefull part is
the printed domes, but if you have any aspirations for an underwater
realm, they could be used quite nicely there (you could also use them
for larger force shields, or even windows in a castle dedicated to the
element of air).

Brown. I think, but am not positive, that it is the only set that has one.
What is the "unofficial" name of this hood? I have seen people call some
hoods "cowls", but am not sure if they are talking about the wolfpack
peasant type hoods or these Star Wars hoods.

I call them Star Wars hoods, big hoods, new hoods. (sounds like Dr. Seuss, no?)
The old ones I call: Old hoods, small hoods, classic hoods, or forestmen or
wolfpack hoods.
Any others?

Correct you are! It's the only SW set (well, only LEGO set) to come with the
young version of Obi-Wan...

Don't think this hood has an unofficial name yet-- but yes, I'm pretty sure
that 'cowl' referrs to the Peasant/Wolfpack hoods.
Rather good that both the Sith Infiltrator and the Gungan Subs have been the
two not selling (I think the Droid Fighter's probably also up there on the
list of sets that aren't selling well), and yet they're great sources for grey
plates, etc :)
It'd be kind of interesting to see what sets are the most popular-- as in the
highest percentage bought from Lego and sold in stores to consumers... Sets
like the X-Wing, Snowspeeder, B-Wing, Tie Fighter/Y-Wing are dissappearing from
stores, while other sets (mainly EP 1 sets) just sit there on the shelves.

I've been looking at possibly using them for hanging chandeliers (did I
spell that right? In case not, I meant lights...) inside a castle. I have
*nothing* in the works these days, maybe someone else could experiment...

The older ones are often ref'ed to as peasant/WP cowls... and the new one in
brown is sometimes called Obi-wan hood (he *is* the only one wearing it...)
