Very nice. Tim!
The impression of the shape and the colouring really fits the original bus.
It is time, that you render a larger scenery with some russian vehicles and
trains...:-)

Hi Andreas,
Well... I was actually reserving the Russian stuff for a real life diorama. I
have ideas how to do it but now need to track down more parts for it and more
pictures (although Flickr has helped me immensely in this). That said I might do
a little virtual suburban moscow diorama out near the ends of the metro lines.

I love it. I am constantly amazed by the things you do with the brick.
I like the approach of using the 2x2 clear slope underneath the yellow arch. It
obviously isnt perfect, but it works and it works just fine. The point is
clearly made with the available parts. The limited parts pallets is actually a
part of the hobby that I have grown to embrace and now actually endear. I still
get frustrated now and then, but working with what is available has become part
of the challenge for me.
Excellent.
6 wide too. Perfect for many towns.
Best,

Thanks very much. Of course I steal a lot of the tricks from our German building
friends so 1000steine is really the source of it.

Thats precisely why I like working with the constrained pallette of Lego rather
than full kitbashing (well, that and the fact that my hands vibrate like an old
washing machine). It forces you to use different parts of your brain to get
around difficulties. Sometimes a mechanical solution such as building massive
SNOT buttresses will work but other times you just have to accept a slight
error in order to maintain the look if not the accuracy.
The main time I get frustrated is when a useful part isnt available in a common
colour (such as the yellow arch in this which exists but was never released in
sets). This seems to be particularly true for green which somehow has a much
more limited pallette than the other basic colours.

I like to keep my vehicles in scale with my trains. Seeing what people can do
with six-wide cars does tempt me sometimes but I guess Im a sucker for small.
Thanks for your kind words.

With thanks to Tim David and William Howard I managed to get one of these built.
Thanks to the masses of SNOT and some choices I had to make to do with available
bricks the bus weighs a tonne... which is probably prototypical.
and the rest will be in the same
BS gallery as before
once its modded.

PS. It has been suggested to me that maybe I should post more often with pics of
real builds (if only to prove I do them ;) ) so Im trying it out. If you
consider this post forum spam let me know and I wont repeat it.

Looks great! I do miss the sand green 1x1 tile on the headlight brick towards
the rear though. Regardless of what it represented, I think it added some nice
texture there. I really want to build on of these for myself. I just love the
look of it with the slopes and all. I am actually working on a trolley with
similar lines and sloping rear end that was heavily inspired by this.
Based on these that I found in Brooklyn:

I miss it too. When I get a sand green headlight brick Ill put it back but Im
trying to steer clear of BL for the time being ;)

Very nice proto. I have to strongly recommend looking at
this (and more after
clicking up) and this
too. I stole a lot conceptually from both vehicles.

Thanks for pointing those out. The rear end of the roof of my trolley is quite
similar to that of the greyhound bus. One of these buses will be appearing on
my layout at some point. That is fantastic!
