I would like to request that the OBB (Ontario Brick Builders) which is a replacement for Can-Bricks (although never added to Lugnet), as an official LUG in Ontario. We have unofficially done 4 public shows, and we are in the process of doing things like designing our own logo, hopefully a webpage, etc... Currently it has members from ParLUGment, rtlToronto, JLUG, and non-LUG members as well, and is certainly open to all Ontarians.

If it is possible for you to add the OBB Rene, not only on the map, but also as a group, I would like to take curatorship of it. Thank you for your consideration.

Hi Janey and all OBB,

welcome to your new group, I hope it will be fun :-)

Only Janey could retroactively take the world’s least organized LUG and turn it into a proper group. :)

Are we counting the spring 2006 show as one of OBB’s ‘official’ events? If so, that would then be 5 public shows (that one plus four Hobby Shows).

I like how our LUG has “non-LUG members”. Kind of quirky, huh? ;)

Well yes, you are right about 5 shows, almost forgot last May... once I collect dates, lists and links, I will get something more “official” up and posted.

AND yes, and SOME of those non-LUG members sure are quirky! (smile)

I look forward to having our group grow.

For now, this is a call out to all those talented or creative... we are in need of a LOGO!

Right now you will see, all that is up on our Lugnet section is some red bricks, and I must say, Rene, or his technical guys did that, I swear, it wasnt me. Although it sure did give me a good laugh.

As well... I asked about table cloth colours on my “Thank you, and recap” Hobby Show post. Im thinking BLACK... for nice photography. White tends to look BORING, and gets dirty way too easily. Yellow seems a bit bright, would clash with those gross Hobby Show curtains, as well would be difficult to colour match at a later date. As well, I want to stay away from red that is predominate with ParLUG, and JLUG, and I want to stay away from blue which is predominate with rtl.

Before I start buying bolts of fabric, I would like feedback if anyone is offended by the idea of black or has a better suggestion.

Thanks, Janey “Red Brick”

I can’t think of a single one that’s quir...... wait a minute, I just looked in the mirror. Nevermind. ;)

I think your long-term vision is fantastic. Much more than I had in mind just trying to pull together the first Hobby Show booth in 2003.

How about an image showing a Janey minifig building micros for a Jason minifig?

(wink)

If you buy black I’ll have to rebuild my “Take one” arrow yet again. What do you have against my arrows?!? I ask you, what did they ever do to you???

Seriously though, black would work great I think. Most LEGO colors are vibrant enough to stand out on a black background... with the exception of black arrows of course.

And yes, black would be easy to match later if needed.

He is... granted. But I thought the real truth was that you actually do most of the building that he takes credit for. At least that’s what you told me. :)

Sadly.... I have just the kind of obsessive personality that might end up making arrows in as many colors as possible. D’oh! Now look what idea you’ve planted in my head. Thanks a lot!!

For those who want in on the joke... here’s the deal. Before the Hobby Show exhibit this year I painstakingly built a replica of an arrow out of red bricks, to place above a tray filled with flyers for the public to take. In other words, the arrow was pointing down at the flyers.

Janey, who simply didn’t repect how much time and effort went into my red arrow, went out and purposefully bought red table cloths to put on our tables. When you viewed the arrow from behind the booth you were seeing it against the background of the concrete floor. However, when you looked at it from the point of view of the public the arrow almost disappeared into the red background of the table cloths.

Janey, who remember didn’t respect my work to begin with, also didn’t believe me when I told her that I would have to go home the first night and rebuild my arrow in a different color. Until.... she went out to the front of the booth. “Oh yeah, that does blend in.”

And thus was born an arrow of a different color:

And now you know the rest of the story.

All joking aside, without Janey we wouldn’t have had table cloths at all, so it was great to have them no matter how badly they clashed with my original arrow design. ;)

It’s true, except for those awful space ships, I dont want credit for those. I think the one is from Spaceballs. Giggle!
