new groups for Marvel and DC licenses

Seeing as LEGO has been producing numerous sets for the DC and Marvel comic book licenses, there ought to be newsgroups here at LUGNET for these two themes, just as already exists here for Star Wars [1] and Harry Potter [2]. For the sake of (...) (8 years ago, 20-Mar-16, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Subject of the post in the title of the page

Hi there, Just a suggestion... Would it be possible to add the subject of the post in the title of the page? With the Awesome Bar of the current navigators (Firefox 3, IE8 or Quick Find for Opera), a good page title makes easier to find a post read (...)   New group for WeDo? lugnet.robotics.wedo

Perhaps we could have a dedicated group for the new educational WeDo concept? Even though the kit does not allow for autonomous operation, I suppose it would make sense to place this under the robotics section. Best regards, Roy Olsen (15 years ago, 20-Apr-09, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Change in handling of real names on LUGNET web pages?

Honestly, using people's real names is part of what I always liked about LUGNET-- when someone says "Did you see that new model by Edgar Jones?" it's more personal than when you say "Did you see that new model by ButtonBlaster26?" It gives you a (...) (15 years ago, 19-Feb-09, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Change in handling of real names on LUGNET web pages?

(...) I am of the opinion that having your real name attached to your posts cuts down on the amount of trolling and silly flame wars. People are much more likely to get involved in flame wars if they can hide behind an alias. I think that is what (...) (15 years ago, 19-Feb-09, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Group for Brick Fair

(...) Agreed. There are more and more LEGO conventions popping up all the time and LUGNET isn't keeping up. (15 years ago, 19-Feb-09, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Change in handling of real names on LUGNET web pages?

(...) Would it be enough to let people change their names to an alias or screen name? (15 years ago, 18-Feb-09, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  LUGNET should offer bookmarking tools

I'll admit this isn't one of my better ideas, but I'll throw it out there anyway... Just read an article that (URL) Ma.gnolia Goes Open Source, But Bookmarking is Dying>. Now, I've played around a little with bookmarking. On one hand, it's a good (...) (16 years ago, 29-Aug-08, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: Change in handling of real names on LUGNET web pages?

(...) I think this is a good move in the right direction. A quick tangent: for those of us who have been around the LEGO community for awhile now, having our real names out in public on LUGNET has helped me to associate names of builders to people I (...)   Re: Change in handling of real names on LUGNET web pages?

(...) No, because the news server is unaware of membership and profiles. That's why posting through NNTP always requires the email authentication process. However, individuals' names and profile data are not an issue with NNTP anyway - apparently (...) (16 years ago, 27-Aug-08, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Change in handling of real names on LUGNET web pages?

Change in handling of real names on LUGNET web pages?

Hi all, recently we receive quite a number of requests from individual users to have their real names and/or profile pages removed from search engine result pages. We realize that some of you probably would rather not see their names on such pages (...) (16 years ago, 27-Aug-08, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Group for Brick Fair

Please provide a separate group for Brick Fair, such as lugnet.events.brickfair. They are forced to use lugnet.events and it has created so much clutter in that group that I've had to unsubscribe from it. Thank you. (16 years ago, 22-Jul-08, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: How to properly "announce" MOC's

(...) I second this thinking. (...) I agree that thumbnails would be cool. I disagree about swapping Top Stories and Latest MOCs. LUGNET is primarily a discussion site, so the stories should remain the focus. Since the center-column articles are (...) (16 years ago, 11-Jul-08, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: How to properly "announce" MOC's

(...) First of all, this is a really nice addition to LUGNET. Thanks, Jerry. Even apart from the worry over some LUGNET posters intentionally driving up their own "view counts" for egotistical reasons, I would appreciate some sort of reload-blocking (...)   Re: Mail-to address "improper" according to Juno webmail

(...) Hi Mike, apparently your mail client expects the more modern address format of "name" <address@domain.com> I have changed the script so that the sender is now: From: "LUGNET Server" <news-authentication...ugnet.com> This appears to be standard (...)   Mail-to address "improper" according to Juno webmail

Hi! I'd like to notify you that the default mail-to address when replying to authentication messages are deemed improper by Juno webmail. When replying to an authentication message, the Ajax software automatically pastes this into the send-to field: (...) (16 years ago, 24-Jun-08, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Top stories on front page not updating

Aaaahhh, there we go...back to normal. Thank you to Rene or Jerry or whoever it was that fixed it! David (16 years ago, 18-Mar-08, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Top stories on front page not updating

Not sure if this is the proper newsgroup for this... Has anyone else noticed that the Top Stories on the LUGNET front page haven't been changing/rolling over? In all my years on LUGNET, I don't think I've ever seen that happen. The latest story is (...) (16 years ago, 18-Mar-08, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)
