Mpegs uploaded for the TTOS Show!

I've painstakingly captured a few mpegs to show some of the more interesting items of our TTOS show.   Re: Are LEGO "Train" Clubs endanger of becoming LEGO "Town" Clubs?

(...) What an interesting debate....personally I was a "townie" before ever buying a train set.....but I think that was due to financial considerations when I was younger..... now adays, my budget is more heavily spent on Trains.... and I should be (...) In lugnet.trains.org, Frank Filz writes: <snip well thought out post> Agreed. See also (URL) am on the "the layout is a stage to showcase the trains" side of the fence but can happily coexist with townies who just want to build buildings as long as (...)   Re: Are LEGO "Train" Clubs endanger of becoming LEGO "Town" Clubs?

(...) But what J-2 *isn't* saying is that the first show for the new GMLTC layout is NOT a 'train show', it is a large Scandanavian Festival in Minot, North Dakota. We're building for the target audience! And even our 'town' sections will have two (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: Are LEGO "Train" Clubs endanger of becoming LEGO "Town" Clubs?

Well, I wouldn't say we are anymore "town" centric than the next non-LEGO train club. I think a great club is made up of a good mix of town, landscape, and trains (with wheels) -iacs. I like the train aspect of it all but I do a bit of RCX stuff. I (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: Are LEGO "Train" Clubs endanger of becoming LEGO "Town" Clubs?

(...) I think there are a couple reasons for this trend, which I think is a good trend. - If you think about the museum and train show displays that have captivated you the most, I would suspect that most people would find the most "complete" (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: Are LEGO "Train" Clubs endanger of becoming LEGO "Town" Clubs?

(...) This isn't directly related to this discussion but it is relevant to what our club (VLC) is experiencing right now. Our club is a general club, not a train club. We have a few dedicated Train members (Myself included) and several people that (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Are LEGO "Train" Clubs endanger of becoming LEGO "Town" Clubs?

Point well taken James, but i think we should look at it another way also. Trains don't exist in a vacuum, the town and environs really set the time period and overall look of the entire layout. When non-train or lego buffs see the layout (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: Are LEGO "Train" Clubs endanger of becoming LEGO "Town" Clubs?

James and All, (...) Well, I am talking from a MichLUG view, and the layouts I have seen at the shows, and of the various clubs who have had pictures and the like up. I don't think you can have an effective layout without some kind of scenery. If (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains.org)
