  questions about swapping rubber bands

In lugnet.trains, Reinhard "Ben" Beneke writes: ... (...) Last night I finally got around to filing down a few of my many defective wheel sets and successfully got a single Santa Fe engine (for the first time) to pull five stock Santa Fe cars around (...) (...) Hi Cary, I remember that i got also once a problem with a 9V motor (from a new Metroliner set). I could replace him for a new one after contacting LEGO abouth it. The train could run for abouth 10 rounds and then stopped, but the light in the (...) (22 years ago, 7-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) the length of the wire has nothing to do with the speed. the problem is that one motor, the first one on the line, is getting most of the power. the motor at 9v, 12v or 115v that doesn't mean thats the exact amount of power that it uses, it (...)   Re: RCX Train Sensor

Also there's an extra wire, due to shining a light bulb at the sensor. But we just ran a (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

  Black train wheels, red axles

I recently aquired a 7745 (great train, incidentally), but one thing about it surprised me. All the wheels (except on the motor of course) were black with red axles. The instructions nor any photos I've see of this set have this. So is it some (...) (21 years ago, 9-May-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: DCC for the RCX

(...) As I run 12v stuff I dont know the 9v motor good enough to comment on the capacitors but I dont think it's that good an idea to use a resistor to drop the voltage. Use one or more (zener)diode's instead. Esger (21 years ago, 28-May-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.trains)

Hey Esger I'm not an electronic specialist by any stretch of the imagination (though not by lack of trying) But commercially available DCC controllers and stuff mostly run at 12 volts (from the research I read), but the RCX runs at 9 (...)   Re: DCC for the RCX

(...) Resistors work fine due to the relative difference in cost. The accessory outputs of the earlier decoders are 100ma or so @28V or less, so at most you are dealing with 2.8 w loss (or 100 ma current draw). In order to drop from 14V to 9V, you (...)
