I have been toying with the idea of a tram too.
And you have 'sunken' the rails as I had though of doing.

It is a nice look.  Wheh!  Uses up a lot of extreme low slopes!

Have you thought about how your sunken rails will go round corners?

Haven't thought about it...except to avoid it!  ;-)
