Re: Are the new Duplo trains a sign? —John Neal
(...) It is speculation at this point based upon info from this post: (URL) , and from the observation that minimal effort is being put into the 9 volt line. It appears to me at least that the 9 volt line has been riding the coattails of sets (...) (24 years ago, 2-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.lego.direct)

[snipped lugnet.lego.direct, 'cause this is off-topic for there] (...) (I'm not sure about '95, the Guide says 4565 is from 1996. Anyway...) Evidence to support: in the Fall 2000 US S@H catalog, the 4565 Freight & Crane Railway gets about 1.25 pages (...) (24 years ago, 2-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Beg to differ. I feel that if there is any NG that is being monitored by TLC, it's there, as evidenced by Brad's occasional posts. I'm hoping that someone at TLC reads these posts and reacts to them, but expecting them to monitor every theme (...) (24 years ago, 2-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) I know that the 9v line has been the orphaned theme for a while, but with such a huge amount of activity in the Duplo 4.5v line up it seems nuts that LEGO wouldn't be reinvesting in the train theme in general. Also, over the years LEGO seems (...) (24 years ago, 3-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Are the new Duplo trains a sign? —Steve Bliss
(...) The new DUPLO sets could indicate the LEGO thinks the target market for train sets is 2-to-5. If that's so, then System Train is doomed. If TLG continues at their current level of producing new System Train stuff, I'll be happy. I'll be even (...) (24 years ago, 4-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Are the new Duplo trains a sign? —Hao-yang Wang
(...) This phenomenon seems to be not unique to Lego. Around where I live it is quite easy to find the Thomas trains or the Brio trains in the toy stores, while you have to go to special hobby shops for the sophisticated stuffs. To me the new Duplo (...) (24 years ago, 13-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) The only issue is LEGO's refusal to allow stores to sell their train products... (...) I agree. I like the Duplo Trains. They are cute. (...) I agree again, Most of the 2000 line is looking quite good. The Adventures Dino stuff is GREAT. (...) (24 years ago, 13-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Which is a regional thing. I was just at a ToyWorld here in Bournemouth, Dorset, UK, and they have track, both kinds, and points. Ripoff Britain prices of course, but stores in the UK do indeed sell the train line. As did stores in Germany and (...) (24 years ago, 14-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)
