Yes it does, but since the torque runs via the vertical shaft, the wheel sets
are trying to spin and due to this fact, the engine runs on straigt track at
least as bad as most engines do in curves, probably worse.
But I works and runs just a little less fast than the regular engines with the
9V train motor do.
