I just checked. The hemisphere is held on from the inside, so you can
use a 4x4 cross shape with the 1x1 corners taken out like this

This gives you a bit more scope for modelling.
Blimey! At this rate I'll be building something myself, which would be a
major distraction from sorting :-)
