Do you perhaps mean a different set? 4559 (ref:
http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=4559 )
has a little tiny engine built on top of the motor unit. It's difficult to see
how to give it two motors. Even the alternate steamer has only one. (oh how I
long for the days when Lego train sets came with alternate model directions...)
4565 or 4551 maybe? Those are both locos that could take two motors. Even 4564,
perhaps. But surely not 4559.
I do agree about double motoring. I do it whenever I can. 4558 for instance
always gets a motor at each end.
However, note that there is a faction that feels more than one motor is more
likely to interfere with speed control. The GMLTC layout has only one power
connection to its main line loops and when a train is at the far end there is a
noticable slow down due to path length adding extra resistance... This slow
down seems to be made worse by having two motors in the train instead of one.
Note also that 4551 doesn't benefit from extra motoring as much as 4565 does
due to weight distribution issues.
