Just wondering what kind of motor comes with the 4559 cargo railway?  Is
it like the new railway exprees one where the lights are part of it.  Or
is it like the older kind (freight and crane railway), just the motor
itself.

I admit I didn't study the Railway Express motor very carefully, but I sure
didn't notice any lights on it!  The RE *set* does include a (standard) 9v
light, as well as the train headlight diffuser piece.  The 9v light is • powered
by connecting to an output on the top of the train motor (which all 9v • motors
have).  Look at the instructions on brickshelf for the Metroliner to see how
this works.

4561 Railway Express has the yellow diffuser and light brick, but the "black
brick" doesn't exist - the framework the diffuser fits into is the entire • engine
plate.

I think all of the cargo train sets have come with the diffuser piece and a
place for the 9v light, but no light or connecting wire.  They do include
instructions for adding the light if you buy the accessory pack.

4565 has 2 "black bricks", 2 diffusers, and ONE light brick for the engine.
SUCKs, since the light brick can't be ordered all by itself.  I'm probably • going
to build my own light bricks, since I'll have several black bricks and • diffusers
frim 4565.

Thats not quite right.  Lego Dacta has a set of two light bricks for 10$.  I
don't have the catalog in front of me (for the part number), but its in the
spares section.

Ben ... IMHO the 4559 locomotive is great! They just beg to be built with two motors ... they're just the right weight to give two motors excellent traction. Two two motor units will pull more cars than the magnetic couplers can handle! To add (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)
