Hello Everyone!

I just developed another roll of film and have more pics of new train
creations to share.

Nice work. Did Big Boy get further revisions from where he was at the
night you brought him over to GMLTC?

Yes, I actually added all of the plumbing and water tanks under the walkways,
added the interior details to the cab, and redesigned the front end to be more
in line with the actual model (lengthened smoke stack, raised light platform,
etc.).  I'll take more pics but it's really hard to capture details when the
subject is mostly black pieces.

As for the caboose, though, try using a flat roof with roofwalks the way
I did. Much more prototypical looking.

I agree - it's much too tall.  As usual this is something I threw together in a
night's work and will require revisions before I'm happy with it.

For a redesign of my Wild West Locomotive and passanger car...

After the redesign: MUCH better loco! The boiler/smokebox tapers the
right way and the big box lantern headlight is spot on!

I like the passenger car roofline, that's an interesting way to get the
clerestory roof look. But it may be a bit top heavy in appearance, you
may want to see if there's a way to get a row of bricks out somewhere
without making the doorway arch effect unachievable.

Yes, this is a big problem.  The doorways need to be the height they are so
minifigs can fit through them, but it makes the roof seem to high.  I'm
thinking about making the car about 8 studs longer to see if it is more of the
proper proportions.  Problem is I'll only have enough windows for 1 car then!

tanks for the pics! You better watch out or you're going to get the
(Casey) Jones for trains as bad as the rest of us.

Bah!  Trains are only a diversion while I await the pieces I need to finish the
big red beast!

(...) Well, the answer of course is not only to lengthen but the widthen;-) Going 8 wide will solve a lot of proportion problems, even if it leaves you with only 1 car. Hey, it took me 6 months of collecting pieces to complete some of my passenger (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) You mean like THIS: (URL) MY big red beast. We took our tree layout down the day after christmas but I ran big red and the matching passenger train around it. It's dated, and I can do much better now, but I still like it. (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)
