Hi all,
I finally got around to building some new rolling stock. As I have no
internet at home I had to build it from a model from a magazine
(Continental Modeller) but I tried to get it as accurate to the model as I
could. As is pretty obvious the model itself is actually 0-4-0 because I
really wanted it powered. Maybe if I get ahold of some of Bens new mid-range
wheels I could give it some power from the PFS but for now it will remain as
an 12V style steam train.
The build is fairly straightforward but does involve stud inversion at the
rear and for the entire boiler. The front chimney uses Savas brilliant idea
of a small train wheel on the top. The brake valve (I think) features a
skeletons limb for added breaking power (PI). I need to buy a few more pieces
in green to finish it off (1x1 tiles and rounds) but figure its quite
postable as is.
And some history for Tim Davids benefit
...the HF110C 0-6-0T+T, designed by Henschel and Jung as a universal narrow
gauge loco for the Heeresfeldbahn, with the modified tank version. This is
based on the loco (Henschel 25325/1942)... - pg. 462, Continental Modeller,
July 2005

That is lovely. Shape and detail. Ill even let you off the missing wheels! I
think its the option I would have taken and its not really that obvious the
representation of the valve gear and connecting rods hides it well. You look
like you have borrowed everyones clever detailing tricks from the last couple
of years and added lots of your own. I like the dome, the front bufferbeam/pilot?
and the handrail recesses especially. Thanks for the history, I have the
magazine ;-)

| --snip-- (...) Thanks. I'll let me off too. I always think I'd prefer to have working pistons but when push comes to shove I just find them too bulky and go back to faking it. (...) I do like to steal. I should really give credit to Ben Beneke too (...) (17 years ago, 28-Nov-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
