Are you sure the Hogwarts Express is dark red?

Just take a gander at the movies. Seems pretty obvious to me, especially
considering
this great pic. Note the 2 different red tones.

Yes, the buffer beam is a brighter red. That pic, with the light on it but not
on the body side, shows the difference a bit clearer than some of the pics I
found. I can see it more easily in the other pics now.
I found it difficult to tell how dark LEGO dark red is, not having bought as
many parts of that colour. I was saving dark red for maroon coaches and LMS
liveried steam locos. This 4-6-2 Duchess by Jason Railton is in dark red:

Ross MOC certainly looks good in dark red. Perhaps I will follow suit with a
colour change when dark red is as plentiful as bright red. I dont expect there
will ever be dark red window parts, so Ill have to make composite ones.
Having looked around at real preserved Mk1 coaches, as well as freezing the
frame on the movies, I see that the roof colours vary from black to old light
grey. The dark bley works well. The curved parts with studs to hold the
ventilators in the middle was something I had in mind to do. I particularly
like the parts used for the dome (cant remember the GWR equivalent if it has
another name), 5972 Olton Hall being a Great Western engine.
