Re: LDD Signal Box for Save 9V Trains Contest (and John Neal)

(...) Tasty, Jason:-d Since my post (almost 4 years ago???) when I deeply coveted your dark gray low corner slopes, I made it a mission to acquire some of my own. And I have, although I have discovered that the 1x2 tri-slope apex brick doesn't come (...) (18 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  New Zealand "X" class loco

Well it isn't Australian, but we always seem to commandeer all the good stuff from NZ and call it ours. Widely believed to be the first 4-8-2s ever built, these were built for use on the north island of New Zealand in the early 1900s. (URL) Enjoy! (...)   Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane

(...) A gallery of Steve Ringe's train work can be seen here: (URL) Steve is a former 8-wide builder that recently converted most of his stock to 6-wide. IMO very little was lost in the translation. Spencer (18 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane

(...) I'm ignoring the IR bulge, as well. But, here is another try at it: (URL) fence method probably has interference with the fact that a stud height would interfer-- it doesn't in CAD, but we remember that studs are greater than 1/2 plate thick, (...)   Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane

A way to overcome the problem of the offset studs on top of the brackets would be placing a (URL) Slope 65 2 x 2 x 2 Smooth without Bottom Tube> over each of them (vertical face outwards) With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen. (18 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane

(...) Another side topic I have not noticed to be mentioned here in Lugnet is the following: (URL) These new wheels (as shown by Heiner Berg from his 7898 set) have no bore hole reaching through the wheel, but they have a plastic tip which will be (...)   Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane

PS. And we're both ignoring the IR battery box in the centre which also has to be worked around. (18 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane

(...) Hi David, I've actually tried something similar to that before but didn't like the studs. The other problem with it is that it may not work since real studs are a little taller than half a plate. The best I've come up with so far is something (...)   Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane

(...) Tim, Here is an idea I just put together. It uses many of the 1x2-2x2 Brackets. (URL) guess the only downside is that you have studs running the length of the train. Then again it does give it a nice textured look. (URL) (18 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane

--SNIP-- (...) I think there's more to worry about than the weight. I've not been able to figure out any decent way of getting a seven wide shell over the six wide baseplate that IR requires. I've tried covering it with snotted panels, tiles and (...) (18 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
