  Re: BoxCar

(...) That looks good. The one thing that stands out is the ladder. You make an effort to recess it at the bottom, but not at the top. Did you try doing it at the top? You would have to put a tile between the roof and the ladder, so I don't know how (...) (21 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)

  MonLUG's Latest Train Show pics!

Hello, Last weekend, MonLUG participated in it's fourth Montreal area train show. And what a great weekend! :-) It was our best layout ever, we were as popular as ever with visitors, Jean-Marc Détraz from NovaLUG dropped by for a visit and we were (...) Kevin Maynes wrote in message ... (...) Mea culpa. It's on my list to do a complete write-up, but it keeps getting pushed down the list by more important/urgent things! Kevin ---...--- Shopping Mall is back: (URL) TOWN PLANNING information: (URL) (...) (21 years ago, 13-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 7-wide Swiss Re 4/4 Electric Locomotive

(...) I don't see any really big gaps, but the nose looks too steep. Spiffy technique though on that. (...) Neat engine. (...) I have to agree, the model is too tall. There seems also to be only one door per cab as you say. I think it's also a bit (...) (21 years ago, 12-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: height standards... ?

Gak! I don't think there are any decided 'standards' out there yet, nor even any 'recommended practices', but looking at the image, a full 9 bricks is far too high for a hi-cube car. I've seen plenty of hi-cube boxcars, both auto parts and (...) (21 years ago, 12-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 7-wide Swiss Re 4/4 Electric Locomotive

(...) Looks very nice, but like you said, a little tall compared to the real one. Nice detailing though. And those 7-wide coaches look nice behind it too. Too bad S@H wouldn't give us more colours in train doors and windows. I can only imagine the (...) (21 years ago, 12-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)

7-wide Swiss Re 4/4 Electric Locomotive

After modeling the (impossible-to-build) 7-wide passenger coaches with hinge shovel scoop bits, I stuck to 7-wide for a go at a Swiss Re 4/4. The Swiss Re 4/4 is characterized by a steeply sloping complex angled face and large front and side-front (...) (21 years ago, 11-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: height standards... ?

(...) other things!) - build whatever looks good and runs well. If it looks too short, add some height. If it tips over in the corners or hits something over the track, it's too tall! Modelling real world trains in 'L-Gauge' is all about two words: (...) (21 years ago, 11-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: height standards... ?

(...) Huh? I'm confused. I assume you mean for rolling stock? 6-wide or 8-wide scale? Or do you mean clearance for overpasses? -Tim (partial train nut, but posting so you can clarify for the sake of the complete train nuts) ;-) (21 years ago, 11-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)
