  Re: Hand car

(...) Hi John, I love the way your car looks! I tried putting one together last night - I'm *almost* convinced that the size can be squeezed down to 4x8, with either of our cars, as long as some creativity goes into it. I did have a problem with the (...) (22 years ago, 20-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

"Trolley" Instructions Now on BI Portal

After the sad news of Fred Rogers' death, I was contacted by several individuals looking for instructions for my version of "Trolley". I just posted some to Jake's BI Portal site: (URL) were created by my son Ross, his first effort in this type of (...) (22 years ago, 20-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org)

Alco RS3 and Articulated Spine Cars

Greetings! After sitting around collecting dust for the past year on a shelf at the GMLTC headquarters, I have finally taken the Alco RS-3 and articulated spine car MOCs I built out for a spin this past weekend at our show in La Crosse, WI. The (...) (22 years ago, 20-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 4 Wheel rail hand car

Hello John, hello everybody, (...) Have you ever tried to just leave the tires off. I recall that I did that back in the late 70s (before my dark age) when I ran out of real train wheels. But then, this solution almost certainly is less than ideal (...) (22 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) orange body...maybe similar to the construction crew 6600. The Lego train people continue to become juniorized (sets 4557, and 4556 come to mind) while less standard Lego train people are available. Why can't Lego produce a normal train person (...) (...) The translations not too hot, but if you look at the pictures as well, I guess you can just about understand it. Intereseting to note that the hopper truck has no rear magnet - but that's not the case in this earlier picture: (URL) unusal (...) (22 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Hand car

Stefan, Thanks for testing it out for me on the switches...glad to hear it works. Adjusting the levers can be a little tricky...not sure if adjusting would help where you mentioned there was friction or not. I have had several suggestion so far (...) (22 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

The Lego designers are getting better and more creative again! Check out the forklifts fenders. They're SNOT chairs. Cool. -Stefan--"easily amused"-G. (...) (22 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Narrow Gauge Steam Critter in Dark Blue

Awesome steamer!!! The dk. blue of course, looks very nice, but the SNOT work is impressive. Now put working side rods on it! :^P If only, eh? On a serious note, I thought the term "critter" only referred to those little industrial diesels. (...) (22 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Hand car

Cool Handcar! (...) The levers are a clever idea. The levers go through a switch, but theres a bit of friction when it hits the moving part. (...) I'm pretty sure Lego doesn't make clear axles or universal joints. You could try one of the clear (...) (22 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) it (...) Not to mention the relative radii of the short & long rails would be wrong, so you'd end up with the rails wider apart at each joint than in the middle. This may not be enough to make it unusable, however, depending what wheels you (...) (22 years ago, 18-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

New vehicle with ecologigal drive concept......

Hi all, in an old picture album, I found this very cool and cute vehicle with a new ecological drive concept (sorry I have no forther information on this and no idea who has built it): (URL) this could be our solution for a train, that runs on all (...)   Re: Narrow Gauge Steam Critter in Dark Blue

(...) That wouldn't work on its own. Firstly you'd need a bridge, since a regular crossing wouldn't be any use. Secondly, there's no way you could keep the tracks 2 studs apart around a 270° arc without lengthening the inner rail somewhere. Even a (...) (22 years ago, 18-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Narrow Gauge Steam Critter in Dark Blue

(...) I've thought of that problem, too. I *think* it could be solved by building a figure-8 track. The outter tracks on each curve would be longer than the inner tracks, but by having them opposite they would cancel each other out. OK, time to dig (...)
