    10017 Mini-Hopper —Harvey Henkelman
Due to the small size of my living arrangment, my goal is to include only four-wheeled waggons on my layout. Unable to give up the beautiful 10017 hopper, I shrunk the design to the two-axle version seen here... (URL) keeps the exact same opening (...) (21 years ago, 2-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

Interesting, I came up with a similar design last year, (URL) is literally half of 10017. Mark "Harvey Henkelman" <Ferroequus@webtv.net> wrote in message news:H83nMp.Mr2@lugnet.com... (...) only (...) 10017 (...) in (...) (21 years ago, 2-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Your trains are colorful and excellently rendered. Who says 'bigger is better' is best? I like strings of smaller waggons as they have more of a dramatic effect. Don't let the building stop now, -Harvey (21 years ago, 2-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Very nice, Harvey and Mark. I must agree that bigger is never necessarily better. Although it's nice to see a long line of rolling stock on a track, I personally prefer cars that are 16 studs or less. This allows to make fixed axle cars, and (...)          Re: 10017 Mini-Hopper —Harvey Henkelman
(...) It's interesting how two people can take divergent paths when it comes to their ideas for making a set smaller while still preserving the overall effect. I'm waiting for more tan slopes and 6×12 plates so I can remove those clumsy tie rods (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

        Re: 10017 Mini-Hopper —David Graham
Has anybody made alternate versions of any of the other recent train items? 10017 seems to be the one most suited to changing. What about a alternate train from 10020 the Santa Fe loco? David (21 years ago, 4-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

        Re: 10017 Mini-Hopper —Kevin Salm
(...) I have seen the Santa Fe loco built in different colors. Actually, I built some in different colors immediately. I have Blue with Gray Stripes and Black with Light Gray. I have also seen some built to Union Pacific RailRoad color scheme -- (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

        Re: 10017 Mini-Hopper —Larry Pieniazek
(...) I've seen it modified into many other things... it's a good starting point, if a bit short, for many different cab/cowl units. MichLTC's Stefan Garcia made a nice ALCO FA using it as a starting point, for instance. (21 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)
