For NALUG's upcoming show in September, I volunteered to design a motorized
switch, and here is the result:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=18417
It's very straightforward, and doesn't use much in the way of rare parts;
excepting the motors, I could build a dozen of these fairly easily. All it
takes to move the switch is a quick pulse from a motor. I ran mine off a
battery box and it went through about 50 cycles and was not seperating from
the track or coming apart at all.
The end of the 1x8 brick used as the slider goes completely over the switch
mechanism (the little yellow handle isn't involved), with the first peg
between the two uprights of the switch.
Any feedback would be appreciated!
(there are a couple places in the instructions where parts are left
"floating", but never for long)
thanks,
James
