Has anyone found a useful purpose for the 4 black plates 1 x 2 with handles (Type 2) part number 3839b which are included in the small loco set 3740. They are not used in either of the two engine designs of this set as detailed in the instruction (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) That sounds like a very good solution. My solution to preventing axle shear has been to create multiple shear planes (like the hinges of the boom on my crawler crane). Jeroen's been hard at work with the train posters. Part of that work has been with me to produce a an unofficial LEGO(R) train poster of some of my custom train creations.
