  Re: Cass #5

(...) If the shafts ran down the side, it was a Shay (thus earning it the moniker "sidewinder"). If the shafts ran down the centerline, it was either a Heisler or a Climax (this all assumes it was one of the big three, I there were actually a couple (...)   German DB236 Diesel Switcher Locomotive

A little diesel switcher, the DB236 (or maybe v36?). Looks a lot better with the old 12v motor and drive rods. A lot of selective compression and a little artistic liberty...here's the result: (URL) Mathis (23 years ago, 23-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

v2 of Road and Rail transport

Here's version 2 of the truck trail transport on rails vehicle: (URL) not sure if it can navigate severe crazy-S curves. later, James Mathis (23 years ago, 23-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) realistic. (...) I got some pictures of one of these shaft drive locos at a rail museum in BC when I was there (near Squamish, from memory). I'm not sure if it was a Shay or not - I'll have to check my notes. Had plans to build one sometime. (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train related MOC's

Jason The grey curve bricks, "6081 Brick 2 x 4 x 1 & 1/3 with Curved Top" came from 6419 "Paradisa Palm Ranch" (I bought it for my daughter) this also contains 4 of them in white. Good tip about "Flash Speeder", Woolworths had them at £3.99 now I (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Truck Trailer hauler: Road to Rails, Keeping it Simple

(...) Actually, I've been "playing" with it tonight, and I've found some problems with it. In "push" mode the wheels pop off the track. Also, the yellow Technic piece has too much sag in it at the joint next to the end of the trailer; part of the (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Truck Trailer hauler: Road to Rails, Keeping it Simple

(...) Interesting work james, I might modify your hitch design for something I'm working on. Thanks! (...) Cletus Romano built some RoadRailers a few years ago: (URL) are pretty nice and actually stay on the track even with his notoriously high rate (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Cass #5

(...) Nifty! Has anyone else done a Shay recently? Or a Heisler or Climax??? (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Truck Trailer hauler: Road to Rails, Keeping it Simple

I'm still Inline for building a few different designs, but since my switch to 8-wide I've been busy with Loco's, the freight will come soon! Its interesting how you have them mounted, it works! I'll have to build a North American container car (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Truck Trailer hauler: Road to Rails, Keeping it Simple

Just a little tinkering with a favorite set-- 4549, Road 'n Rail Hauler. I wanted to load the entire trailer onto simple train wheelsets with minimum mods to the LEGO(R) design trailer. Added 3 parts to the trailer: 1) quantity two of 6019 Plate 1 x (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: German Steam Engine BR50: MOC finished

(...) Thanks for your words! (...) I agree moving connecting rods and pistons would be really great, but I think even these static parts do a lot for the first impression. Of course a new big wheel (with technic hole for moving pistons) would be the (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

NGLTC pictures from Atlanta GATS 2002

Re: German Steam Engine BR50: MOC finished

(...) Well done again Ben!! Thanks for all pictures showing details and the partly built model. I can see that there is a lot of clever solutions put into the construction. I think the 7-width gives good proportions to the model - it really has an (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train related MOC's

(...) Mark - I love them to bits. Finally, someone else building some classic British steam engines. As for you mixing colours on the 0-6-0, I'd love to know where you got those curved-top bricks in grey. I've seen black (Sith Infiltrator 1x2s), red (...)   Re: German Steam Engine BR50: MOC finished

(...) Thanks! It is just the "competition" among uns fans, that make our models so good (and still better and better). I am daily amazed what a development in building has been taken place during the few past lugnet years. (...) I think the fun with (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Yet Another ISSC entry, Galloping Goose #7 at Dolores Station

(...) Deadline for entries was "last minute of last day of 2001". But Rene got a huge flood of entries at the last minute, and there is formatting and suchlike that he has to do for each one. So it's taking him some time to get them all posted. I (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build.contests)
