LD and AFOL,

My 10001/10002 combo came via UPS today. I have not yet built the Metro
Liner, but I can see that it has light blue small windows (these need to be
replaced) I am also not to happy with the packaging of this set, all the
bags of parts, track, motor, stickers and instructions are just jammed into
the box. The instructions are scrunched, motor is banged up, sticker are
deform and two of the three wagon plates are warped. I don’t think the
warped plates will be a big deal once I build the cars, but they are useless
for flat cars, in the future.

Thing the LEGO company need to bring about for sets like this:
1) They should bundle the motor in foam or bubble rap
2) The tracks should be tied or boxed or bundle in a bag(s)
3) The wagon plates should be in a small box
4) The sticker sheet should be attached or placed in side the instructions

They also forgot to enclose the extra page for the Club Car instructions.
(What's changed?)

I know that LEGO is trying to save money but I hope they do a better job on
other re-released sets in the future. The 10001 and 10002 are still great
sets even with all the faults, just watch the quality better. Keep them
coming...

Thank you,
Robin Werner

My apologies if somebody has already posted this, but my sets only arrived
today.

10002 has the same pieces as the original, 4547, including the printed
pieces.
The only difference being in the packaging and a mis-print in the
instructions, which necessitated a loose page being inserted in the outer
delivery box.

There are a few differences between 10001 and 4558, as far as I can tell
from the instructions.
(I had to leave the box of parts at work, due to my wife not knowing about
it yet. She'll probably find out eventually, but I'd prefer her not to know
for now. :-O)
The hair on the girl with the red necklace has changed to a ponytail, from a
small tuft on each side of her hair, in the original.
The doors with windows are printed, as in the original, but the other large
doors look as if they now require stickers to be applied. (I can't check at
the moment, having left the sticker sheets at work too.)

I didn't notice any other differences.

Jonathon

(...) I had the same problem, though it seems like nothing was skipped in my instructions, just a reprint of the prior step. I just moved on to the next step and didn't see any changes, and when I was finished I didn't have any parts left over (well (...) (23 years ago, 17-Oct-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.lego.direct)
