I believe they are yellow because in older LEGO instructions and flyers, the
electric contacts on things like plates and wires are shown in yellow. So
the other electrical parts modeled in LDraw also use yellow. But IIRC it is
a special yellow that is not color 4 (or 14, I forget)...
If you changed it to gray in your version, great, but I would hate to see it
changed to grey in the official part if and when it is released. Instead it
ought to be some special color that means metal (the same way that there is
a special color that means "chrome plated")
IMHO.

| (...) Lar, I totally agree with you. Light gray for the conducting rails is not right, and it should not be made the official color. I was thinking about changing the metal rails to the color of the conducting wheels. However, I can think of two (...) (23 years ago, 13-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.trains)
