Lar,
I totally agree with you. Light gray for the conducting rails is not right,
and it should not be made the official color. I was thinking about changing the
metal rails to the color of the conducting wheels. However, I can think of two
reasons not to change the rails to shiny chrome. (1) It would require figuring
out what shiny is (not that hard I guess). (2) Shiny isn't quite right for the
rails anyway; in reality, the rails aren't as shiny as the wheels, are they?
Anyway, the light gray color was just because I didn't want to look at the
yellow. Has anyone tried to render the yellow rails? Do they come out yellow? I
didn't think to try that before changing the color.
Also, I would never distribute ".dat" files of models that include unofficial
parts. I think distributing models with unofficial parts detracts for the whole
LDRAW feel. What I mean is that an uninitiated user should be able to open a
".dat" file of a model and see the complete model without having to install
extra unofficial stuff.
The next unofficial part I need is the left hand opening 6 pane glass door (a
part that doesn't exist unless you rip apart a right hand opening 6 paned glass
door and turn it into the left handed version.) But I have no idea how to do
that (the .dat file...I have not problem modifying those doors.)
