I'm not Steve but my read is that he's saying that MPDs are a GOOD way of
distributing models that have unoffical parts. you put the unoffical parts
into the MPD where they are part of the model (and will be for otehr
people), instead of in your parts directory where they WON'T be there for
others.
Thus they will show up fine on other systems.
The problem in the last paragraph is that once you do that the onus is on
you to track what you did... at some point if a new part comes out, you
ought to go fix your MPD and take that unoffical part out of the MPD and
replace usages with the official.
That way people who get the old MPD get the old part. People who get the new
MPD (ifyou made it available fordownload) get the new part referenced and no
pollution from having to have had download an unofficial part.
I no longer release MPDs publicly but this is the technique I use for
unofficial parts...

| (...) I was following you fine all the way up to the last paragraph. Are you saying that an MPD's that are not made with official parts won't come out right or that they won't show up right when viewed on someone elses system? Chris (23 years ago, 14-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad)
