(...) Advice about collecting? Are you a collector or a builder or both? (...) Depends on personal preference. Some like 9V some 12, some 4.5 My advice is decide what you like and focus on that. Don't ask others for what you ought to like, that is (...) (24 years ago, 3-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org)

RE: Getting started with LEGO trains

taka a look at www.lego.com and find the catalog.... secondly the 4565 is still availble, ask someone from the list, if a local shop has it, they migth sent it to you. I found it here in Amersfoort in the weekend. Other sets can be bought here or on (...) (24 years ago, 3-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Which to collect - 4.5v, 9v, 12v

(...) My thinking is collect all of them, 4.5, 9, and 12v. Buy the ones you like and skip the ones you don't. If you do collect different types of trains you may want to run them on the same track. If that is the case, and for me it is, then you may (...) (24 years ago, 3-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org)

  Which to collect - 4.5v, 9v, 12v

Hello everyone, I am wanting to start collecting trains. I am looking for some advice. Which is the best?   Re: Are the new Duplo trains a sign?

(...) I know that the 9v line has been the orphaned theme for a while, but with such a huge amount of activity in the Duplo 4.5v line up it seems nuts that LEGO wouldn't be reinvesting in the train theme in general. Also, over the years LEGO seems (...) (24 years ago, 3-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Getting started with LEGO trains

(...) If he posts nicely to .bst, he can get one for $15 or so...I'm quite sure. As for 4565, I know it went on sale for less than $100 at ZB, so perhaps asking nicely in .bst might get a response for one less than the 130 from S@H. James (24 years ago, 2-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Are the new Duplo trains a sign?

(...) Beg to differ. I feel that if there is any NG that is being monitored by TLC, it's there, as evidenced by Brad's occasional posts. I'm hoping that someone at TLC reads these posts and reacts to them, but expecting them to monitor every theme (...) (24 years ago, 2-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Getting started with LEGO trains

(...) I don't think this set comes with a transformer however. If you want to the greatest selection of currently available train sets call LEGO S@H and request a current catalog (800) 835-4386 (S@H direct). All of the current train sets and (...) (24 years ago, 2-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Getting started with LEGO trains

There are currently two different trains- 4561 Railway Express (Blue Turbo in Europe, far cooler name) Description: Mainly blue & white passenger train. Pitiful small engine. [snipped lugnet.lego.direct, 'cause this is off-topic for there] (...) (I'm not sure about '95, the Guide says 4565 is from 1996. Anyway...)   Re: Are the new Duplo trains a sign?

(...) It is speculation at this point based upon info from this post: (URL) , and from the observation that minimal effort is being put into the 9 volt line. It appears to me at least that the 9 volt line has been riding the coattails of sets (...) (24 years ago, 2-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.lego.direct)

  Getting started with LEGO trains

Hi, I just joined the list and have a few beginner questions on LEGO trains. First, what sets are currently available? Ideally a sets that come with track, trains, transformer, etc. Basically something to get started with. Where is a good place to (...) (24 years ago, 2-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: GMLTC at GATS?

Mitch- You are indeed correct that we (the GMLTC) are "between layouts" and are currently without *any* layout. We are in the process of sorting back the bricks from the "old" layout and are beginning to plan out the "new" one. We hope to debut the (...) (24 years ago, 2-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)
