Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed

Wow. It is a real shame that TLC would not make such a high quality set. I know I would splurge (uh, spend) whatever it took to buy one of those! Great job on the engine shed, could you post a few pictures from the other side? Wayne G. (...) (25 years ago, 11-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed

Actually, I was trying to pull Ben's leg and have him think the shed was a set (since he collectively pulled ours;). Hopefully, it dazed him briefly;-) Mike is about right-- I bought 44 classic train sets to get the black 4x3 and 3x3 slopes for the (...) (25 years ago, 11-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed

Oh, I thought he was referring to the red windows on his engine shed. I couldn't figure out what recent set would have had those (besides the service pack or some freestyle sets)... got it now, I think. Thanks jt (...) North Georgia LEGO Train Club (...)   Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed

He is referring to set #3225, which is ironic, as it first appeared in Germany, IIRC. Of course, John bought 46 copies, which is excessive, even for set hogs like the GMLTC. ;-) Mike Poindexter (...) bricks (...) in (...) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

John, Which set are you referring to? Or do you mean service packs 5216 & 5149? jt (...) -- ---...--- James J. Trobaugh North Georgia LEGO Train Club (URL) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed

Thanks, Ben. Finally TLC came out with a decent set! It came with a lot of red windows and black low slopes. I'm surprised you haven't seen it in Deutschland yet-- maybe just a special release in the US? -John (...) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed

Hi John! Indeed, very nice pictures! I wish the 45° sloped roof bricks would be available as supplementary box in germany too. We have no Lego® roof bricks left to buy here. During the last years we could get at least 22° bricks in red...... (...) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed

(...) Nice building John! Nice photo too. So, when are you going to start weathering these models? Those lovely white windows and door are much too pristine for an engine shed <G,d & r> Kevin (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed

I think that the doors are just 1x bricks attached with the 1x2,1x2 hinge pieces. No tricky attachment there, just a lot of black bricks. Mike James Mathis <thakius@nmt.edu> wrote in message news:FstD4y.LJ5@lugnet.com... (...) the (...) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 8 Wide Dual Engine Shed

This is a very nice building. Woah! Lot's of windows. Wheh! What I really like are the track doors: The black arch piece attached to the top of the door looks good. I'd like to see a close-up of how the door is constructed and the black arch piece (...) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 4 Wides!!

(...) No, I'm going to do my taxes;-) (...) Actually, at this scale, I think a plain ol' 1x1 and 1x2 clear bricks would make good passenger windows. And, for those portholes, a 1x1 or 1x2 technic brick would suffice. But Uncle Sam beckons... -John (...) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 4 Wides!!

John, Much better! Now, are you going to make a pullman? You could use either the 1x1 brick with the side stud, or if you want something a little bit bigger, you could use a 1x2x1 trans. thin wall mounted sideways for a tall window or a 1x1 clear (...) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

  8 Wide Dual Engine Shed

I almost forgot-- here are a few shots of my engine shed. Please excuse the frequency of my posts-- that's what happens when you finally get a new digital camera;-) (URL) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains) !

  Re: 4 Wides!!

  Re: GMLUG Users

Hi! Can't say that I've ever been to a GMLUG meeting, but the GMLTC is located primarily out of Minneapolis. We may not be the best way to get started into LEGO trains since our layout style requires an unrealistic amount of bricks to incorporate. (...)   Re: 4 Wides!!

John, You just can't be satisfied with 6 wide, can you? I was thinking about your caboose and it needs windows. Since you probably don't have access to Gary Istok's collection of windows, you could make some 1x1 looking windows by using the 1x1 (...) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 4 Wides!! (and other mixes of Lego & non-Lego bits)

Hey man, Your models are really cool! Nice proportions and clean lines. I liked the use of the "corrugated" bricks on the boxcar ends. In a sort of related vein, (as far as mixing lego & non-lego components goes) I was wondering if anyone builds (...) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.trains)
