Those of you that don't know... Brian is a "stealth" member of GMLTC, he doesn't live in the Twins any more but still comes out for shows. I have just finished the BayLTC logo to the best of my ability. I have made it in both a windows metafile, which will retain its sharpness regardless of the size it is printed, which is excellent for banners, and a gif for easy viewing. It can be (...) I built a flat-bed car which used 2 of the newer style rounded Technic beams to connect to the bogie plate. Seems to work pretty good. Just the right thickness for the stud on the bogie plate. Tim Strutt 8^) (...) (25 years ago, 26-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)

Ben, Hi. A couple years ago I installed caternary over most of my layout. The support masts are all Lego elements but the wire is not. I use HO scale Maerklin pantographs to pick-up power on the engines (see "(URL) A wire runs down into the motor (...) (25 years ago, 26-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) You are absolutely right, Lar. According to largescale.com, there are 7 different scales that run on #1 Gauge track. LGB is 1:22.5, Aristo-craft is 1:29 (except their Classic series, which is 1:24, USA trains and Bachman are (I think) 29:1. (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) wide (...) are (...) I checked out the smaller (UK) prototype train models at LL Windsor - they are 18 studs wide and were a job to count whilst the trains were on the move. This translates to 144mm wide - about right for an 8'6" to 9' wide (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)

John (and others, except James Powell who no doubt knows this already) You toss around "G Scale" a lot but unlike most other gauges, G isn't really just one scale. LGB is narrow gauge and thus is to a bigger scale (22:5 to 1??) than some of the (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Not really true. If you accept that the track gauge is 5 studs, then 3x5=15, which is the maxiumum proportion one should use (3x the track gauge is how wide the maximum normal load should be) For example, the SRRL #9 (2-4-4T was 7'3" wide, on (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Touché;) The only problem with 1 stud equaling 1.25 feet is that standard track gauge in North America is 4 feet 8.5 inches, and the gauge of our track is almost 5 studs, which would translate in a gauge of about 6'!! By rights we *should* be (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)
