  Re: Portland Train Event

(...) Hummm... I thought I had pretty close to 1000 words in that message. But for those who need more... (URL) Next to that group of AFOLs is the GPLR layout. Behind them, pretty much all blocked, is the PSLTC layout. And in the way back you can (...) (12 years ago, 27-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Sounds great, Matt, but do we have to take your word for it, since we all know that a picture is worth a thousand of those. (URL) JOHN (12 years ago, 27-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Portland Train Event

This past weekend, February 25-26, 2012, a great train event happened in Portland, Oregon, USA at the Worlds Greatest Hobby show. Sure, the show itself is a train event, but at the show something even greater happened. There were 3 separate train (...) (12 years ago, 27-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains)

Re: LMC - update - wiring, off topic

(...) Never trust the color of the wire - measure first, or rather remove the fuse! (12 years ago, 24-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: LMC - Guest

(...) lol Gauging from his grip on that hammer, I'm guessing that Abner must have been a big help. (URL) JOHN (12 years ago, 24-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: LMC - update - wiring, off topic

[snipped] Same is true for Germany (whole Europe (as common in many fields UK probably excluded?)shares a power grit to overcome local power shortages, so I guess we all have more or less the same system with 230V at 50Hz). For the 380V system it is (...) (12 years ago, 24-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains)

Re: LMC - update - wiring, off topic

(...) It is the same in Denmark. (I must admit that I am bad at remembering which colour wire goes where, which means that I occasionally trigger the safety breaker when mounting ceiling lamps.) Play well, Jacob (12 years ago, 24-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains)

  Flex track

Hi All, I know that flex track is a love hate topic. But I thought I'd post a new item I spotted! Plus some links for comparison... Fisher Price Thomas & Friends (aka GeoTracks)(URL) Current LEGO Flex track (URL) Prototype LEGO Flex track (2 URLs) (...) (12 years ago, 23-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains)

Re: LMC - update - wiring, off topic

(...) My facts are from Sweden, but I suspect we are following the euro norm. Old wiring is two wires - 'phase' and 'earth' - that's 220 (or rather 230) Volts in one wire and 'return' in the other. New wiring, old outdoor or wet room wiring have an (...) (12 years ago, 23-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains)

Re: LMC - update - wiring, off topic

(...) Yes, it is OK in the US to pull wires horizontally. If they are more than 1 1/2 inches (about 3.75 cm) from the edge of the stud (which is 3 1/2" thick on interior walls) they they need to be protected by a metal plate so that screws or nails (...)   Re: LMC - update

(...) [ apologies for being a geek ] Is it okay to pull wires horisontally in walls in the US? In DK the only place you are allowed to pull wires in walls is vertically in the space directly above and below a visible wall-plug or contact. Play well, (...)   LMC - Guest

Hi All, I had a couple suprise guests a week or so ago. The first out-of-towner AFOL to visit the LMC was Dan Parker from Seattle. The second was Abner! After a nice visit and tour of the LMC we were driving away and I had a thought, so we turned (...) (12 years ago, 23-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains)

"Photos or it didn't happen." OK here's some more photos! :) Both major walls in place and wired (mostly). The garage door is visible too! Off to the side you can see the 36" door waiting to be hung.   LMC - update

The LMC (LEGO Man Cave) is coming along nicely. I have all the walls built and installed (save one small one). 250" of electrical wire pulled, 20 outlets & 4 switches. Garage door opener installed and clearence worked out. Next steps: hang the door (...) (12 years ago, 22-Feb-12, to lugnet.trains)
