  Re: Electronic brick (1968) schematics?

(...) Hi Stefan, as far as I know a German fellow has done so. His nick at 1000steine is "Rat" and he his the one, who has produced Aluminium rims for the 392 wheels. You may try to contact him via this contact form (click on envelope) (URL) From (...) (17 years ago, 23-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Creative ways to run trains in small places

(...) And if you're thinking of making a loop, HO, OO and N have some pretty wide curves as standard. You really have to go down to Z-gauge to find curves that are smaller than LEGO, and that would take some very specialised building techniques! (...) (17 years ago, 21-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Creative ways to run trains in small places

(...) I've done some straight line layouts and some branching ones for shunting, and after a while they're no fun to run. Tim's suggestion is the best. Screw the track down to some chipboard and hinge it to fold up out of the way. To keep the depth (...) (17 years ago, 21-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 10170 TTX Intermodal Double-Stack Car

(...) One side-effect of our particular hobby is that ordinary people would assume that LEGO is for kids, so probably anyone who might have been dishonest would have thought they would be stealing from a kid. And it takes a really low form of (...) (17 years ago, 20-Jul-07, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.trains)

Re: 10170 TTX Intermodal Double-Stack Car

(...) Mike: Glad to hear you got it back. There must have been some honest people at the airport last night. Glad to hear everything worked out. :-) -Dave (17 years ago, 20-Jul-07, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.trains)

Re: Creative ways to run trains in small places

(...) A variation of this (that I had in my bedroom as a kid) is to have the layout hinged on one edge and fixed to a (strong) shelf. When not used it folds up against the wall. Mine was hollow, with an operating well/hole in the middle. (URL) (...) (17 years ago, 20-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Two silly train cars

I've had these built for some time, but I never got around to photographing them. I built these mainly for TexLUG events to amuse the kiddies. I apologize for the poor quality of the photos. Heavy Duty Depressed Center Flatcar with John Deere (...) (17 years ago, 20-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: 10170 TTX Intermodal Double-Stack Car

(...) Ahh, two happy endings in one nite-- yours and the ending of the non-ending for Brickshelf:-) JOHN (17 years ago, 20-Jul-07, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: 10170 TTX Intermodal Double-Stack Car

[ ... snipped ... ] (...) If you are in the Chicago area or caught it on the news, you know the weather last night was not very good for anyone traveling. A large thunderstorm closed O'Hare cancelling my flight home (along with thousands of other (...) (17 years ago, 19-Jul-07, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Rebuilding the TCLTC site

(...) Ooh, no worries! :-) Looks like Kevin is going to keep Brickshelf going, and we will become paying customers, so the site won't need restoring after all. Brilliant! JOHN (17 years ago, 20-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, FTX)

Re: Creative ways to run trains in small places

(...) One of the classic solutions used by non-Lego model railroaders might work for you as well. It does require a largish garage, however. The idea is to have a layout on a platform that can be raised up by chains or ropes so that you can park (...) (17 years ago, 20-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains)

  Electronic brick (1968) schematics?

Several people here on Lugnet own copies of 139 (the 4.5V Electronic train control unit), and even though I am not quite eager enough to try to acquire a copy for myself, I'm still very much interested in this set, as it was a childhood dream of (...) (17 years ago, 19-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains)

  10170 TTX Intermodal Double-Stack Car

I was in Schaumburg (Chicago) today for work and had a some time before my flight so I stopped off at Woodfield Mall LEGO Store to see if they had anything new or interesting. The Pick-A-Brick choices were pretty weak, nothing I couldn't live (...) (17 years ago, 19-Jul-07, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.trains)

Re: Creative ways to run trains in small places

A long time ago I made a 4 wide big rig and thought that it might be fun to take standard HO track and build LEGO cases for a standard loco chassis. The I got to thinking about how to attach HO trucks to LEGO and dropped the idea because it was (...) (17 years ago, 18-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains)

Creative ways to run trains in small places

I would like to have a train layout, with permanent structures, supplemental vehicles, and so forth, but I really do not have the room for it. Has anyone come up with a creative way to build, run, and store a lego train layout in a small space? For (...) (17 years ago, 18-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Is it possible to run lego trains outdoors?

(...) I had not considered the effect of sunlight on the bricks. That's a show stopper for me, as I would like to leave structures in place, even if the trains come indoors after each use. Thank you to everyone for the suggestions and information. (...) (17 years ago, 18-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Rebuilding the TCLTC site

(...) Thanks for the reassurance, John. I'm glad that we won't be losing your creations for good. I can hardly wait to see them IRL at NMRA. :) (17 years ago, 17-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, FTX)

  Rebuilding the TCLTC site

With the sudden disappearance of Brickshelf (which hosted nearly all of our images), our web site has been temporarily devoided of images. We are working to restore them, so please be patient while we undergo this arduous task! JOHN (17 years ago, 16-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, FTX)
