Nice article! I was able to do something similar, except I brought the wire in from underneath the track through the slots between the ties. I also have a very nice soldering iron and lots of experience with getting connections like this to work (...) (21 years ago, 6-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains)

(...) I thought about this for a while too... the best way is probably to sacrifice an old Technic axle, make a little aluminium bushing that slides right over the Technic axcle, put that into the chuck. Now put the wheels on the Technic axle and (...) (21 years ago, 6-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Have you seen these wheels after they've been "de-flanged"? For a 2-10-0, you could use four wheels 'as is', and 6 that had been their flanges removed. This would allow you to shorten the frame considerably. I know Ben is working on a way to (...) (21 years ago, 5-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains)
