  Permanent outdoor train

As I get closer to actually buying a house, I've been doing some more thinking about a future garden railroad. How well suited to a permanent outdoor setup is the Lego track? If it isn't suitable, is the guage close enough to any model railroad (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Thalys and Hondekop Pics

I added stepwise instructions of the Dutch Hondekop (dog face) train and Thalys engine. Instructions of Thalys car, and pictures of the finished models will appear in a week or so. Eric Eric Brok wrote in message ... (...) still (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: My experience at Legoland USA

Of course I was not implying that our scale of model trains is inferior to those made by the master builders. In fact, I believe that ours is far superior to theirs. TLG markets train sets to minifig size. I think Miniland should have been geared (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: My experience at Legoland USA

I'd put Miniland scale at more like G... what we do is fairly close to O, inasmuch as you can say that we work to any scale in particular. (...) I'd say that PNLTC and GMLTC layouts are no slouches, sizewise. (25 years ago, 1-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

  My experience at Legoland USA

Hi everyone, Well the trip is over for now. We're heading up to Canada next week, from Tijuana, Mexico to Prince Rupert, BC, what an opportunity to buy lego sets! I just posted some things under the LEGOLAND topics board I observed at LL Carlsbad if (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: MPeg Movie of Orange TGV train

James, You're a genuine Cecil B. DeMille! It's great to see your train in action. Amazing that the file size is so small. Everyone will soon put up movies instead of pics! When I look for my next camera, I'll definitely look for that feature. Good (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Howdy

Well, After many months of not being able to post I gave it another shot and wow, I can post. You guys have all been doing a great job on these high speed train designs. I can't wait to get some of MOCs up to show off. Only slightly off topic. (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Grey 6x28 wagon plates avail Sweden & Austria

I am looking for factorees in Sweden and in Austria. If you live in either of these countries and would be willing to be a factoree (and incidentally do this deal) I know for sure I'd buy up whatever of these plates did not go sold by others, as I (...)   MPeg Movie of Orange TGV train

Hi, all, I was able to borrow a SONY Mavica digital camera with MPEG movie capability last night. There are four MPEG movies of my orange TGV running on the tracks up at my TGV page. I hope for you that all you have to do is click on the text that (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

Grey 6x28 wagon plates avail Sweden & Austria

Hi, I recently wrote to several European Lego offices looking for discontinued train parts. I have had replies from Lego Austria and Lego Sweden, they both have some 6x28 grey wagon plates. The Austrians have a price of ATS 30 (about US$2.25) and (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

6 wheels for 9V train motor

Hi, While converting my 7755 (heavy diesel shunter) to 9V I was disappointed by the loss of the two matching 6 wheel assemblies. Then I noticed the small holes on the sides of the 9V motor, right in the middle, at the level of the other wheels. So I (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  small chnage to my trolley

It is almost not worth mentioning, but I finally bought a "Light saber Duel" so I now have 4 long gray antennas. As I suspected, the long gray antennas make much better trolley poles than the gray lances. (URL) in case anyone was curoius. Chris (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Updated TGV Orange

(...) Very nice again. It doesn't stray too badly at all. Could this be the first Halloween train? The Pumpkin Express? :) I sure wish the 4559 Cargo Railway was built like this (as it could have been), alternate set models notwithstanding. If it (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Updated TGV Orange

I have added a passenger car to my orange TGV. The train set now has the two engines and three passenger cars. Formerly, the train had two passenger cars. This third passenger car is a double-deck car, which I don't believe any of the orange TGVs (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Thalys and Hondekop Pics

(...) I was asking myself the same question, but don't know. I only know the name from print and occasional, 'unauthoritative', mentionings. I happen to pronounce it as 'Tah(!)-liss', because I thought it was supposed to seem an English phrase (and (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Page update

Love your pyramid! I remember making pyramids around the time King Tut did his American Tour. Yours is much nicer (bigger better doorway) than anything I made back then. The buildings are nice too, but the pyramid made me smile. Chris (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  page update

I have updated my page. (URL) links to the new pictures are... I modified my blue deisel electric so I could build two of them. (URL) made a tank car which is similar to Joe's (URL) but his is better. (URL) made a caboose. I am very happy with this (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Thalys and Hondekop Pics

Eric, I'm really impressed with your models and ideas as well as your presentation of them. I'm sure I'll learn a lot on your site. Out of curiosity, how do you pronounce "Thalys?" Is it a hard "th?" Is the "y" pronounced like an "i?" "A" as in (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)
