Re: NALUG a hit at the Great Edmonton Train Show Sept 22-23, 2001

(...) Heh. Thank a slow morning at work for that. :) (...) That was Steve's idea. I'd been trying to think of something tasteful to put on the layout, and was drawing a blank when Steve suggested the flags. They were half-mast on Saturday, and back (...)   Re: NALUG a hit at the Great Edmonton Train Show Sept 22-23, 2001

(...) after a busy weekend! Thanks for letting us share the event with you so fast! On the other hand, I was surprised to see, in Jame's gallery, in the Town section (looking at the Police and Warehouse images) that the US and Canadian flags were at (...)   NALUG a hit at the Great Edmonton Train Show Sept 22-23, 2001

Our train layout this last weekend was a great success, and we again collected the 2nd place "people's choice" award. Our major goal this year was to have lots of automation, and I think we managed to acheive it. Highlights include: fully automated (...)   Re: small annoucement in the name of René Hoffmeister

(...) I have no idea, what kind of trouble he has. Maybe he is just not at his usual posting-PC with the lugnet-member-ID... But Rene will love to hear that somebody likes to read his postings. ;-)) After he has caused some little flame wars here in (...) (23 years ago, 25-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: small annoucement in the name of René Hoffmeister

(...) That ought to be fixed, I love hearing from Rene! Have the admins been contacted? (...) Intertran also works well, and in fact can be inserted into a site so that the users can just click on it to start the translation process rather than (...) (23 years ago, 25-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

Question about sleepers for 4.5/12 V track

This is a question about the dark grey sleepers for the 12V/4.5 V track. There are some without cable grooves, and some with. The majority of these sleepers seems to have these grooves. Does anyone know which sets came with the "without grooves" (...) (23 years ago, 25-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

small annoucement in the name of René Hoffmeister

My friend Rene (the mastermind behind the www.1000steine.de) has some trouble to post here in Lugnet, so he begged me to do it in his name. Leg Godt! Ben Rene Hoffmeister wrote: ***...*** Hello, Maik and David from Germany have a too slow website so (...) (23 years ago, 25-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: #113

(...) Never had a 113 sealed in box but AFAIHH (as far as I have heared) it came with the white bricks for the ramps. But I have no idea, how long the oval of track has been.... Leg Godt! Ben (23 years ago, 25-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

  #113

Does anyone know if set #113 ((URL) comes with the bricks to raise the track? (See picture) -Tim (23 years ago, 24-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: GE 44-Tonner

(...) All I can say is that Ross is being faithful to the prototype-- I checked the schematic from which he was working and there isn't a walkway on the front or back-- the steps drop right off of the front wheel of the truck. He cleverly attached (...) (23 years ago, 24-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: HP HE: licensing not cost (wasHogwarts ..?

To answer the original question regarding 9v disparity -- as answered by an inside person with whom I spoke... It was a matter of licensing. WBros granted another toy train mfr exclusive rights to market an electric toy train model of the HE. dan (23 years ago, 24-Sep-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.trains)

  Re: GE 44-Tonner

(...) That looks nice. I agree with Lar about the walkway at the front or back. A more rounded look might peg the model as a 44-toner a bit more, but potato potato. There are only two other things I find distracting (slightly) the gap between the (...) (23 years ago, 24-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 12 volt track

I would have thought that 'begs' is the same as 'to ask formally'. In fact Collins uses the example "beg the question - to put forward an arguement that assumes the very point it is supposed to establish, or (and in this case) that depends on some (...) (23 years ago, 24-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: HP Hogwarts Express and normal 9V trains?

(...) Sure. At BRISKfest, yes. But I'm all booked up at Brickfest so won't be able to do it for you there. (23 years ago, 24-Sep-01, to lugnet.harrypotter, lugnet.trains, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: HP Hogwarts Express and normal 9V trains?

(...) Thank you, sir! (...) Hey Lar, can you demo this at Briskfest 2002? :-) I can do it blindfolded, but need 2 hands. Hey, I am a tuba player, you know, not all that coordinated. :-) Thanx Mark #525 (23 years ago, 24-Sep-01, to lugnet.harrypotter, lugnet.trains)

why the hogwarts express doesnt run on track out of the box

Basicly, in order to make it look authentic (to satisfy the HP people) they needed spoked wheels and it was a LOT cheaper to use the adventurers wheels than to remake the old 4.5v wheelsets (23 years ago, 23-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: HP Hogwarts Express and normal 9V trains?

(...) You are correct sir. I forget, since I can assemble trucks blindfolded with one hand tied behind my back, and motors while I am asleep, that not everyone else can too. (23 years ago, 23-Sep-01, to lugnet.harrypotter, lugnet.trains)

Re: HP Hogwarts Express and normal 9V trains?

(...) That's presumably the reason, but I wonder how much more it would have cost to make it a push train? Certainly including a train motor would have dramatically increased the cost. All in all, I like the set. The coach is somewhat oddly built, (...) (23 years ago, 23-Sep-01, to lugnet.harrypotter, lugnet.trains)

Re: HP Hogwarts Express and normal 9V trains?

this is actually the very first time I visit the HP group. The reason? To ask the question about the HE and 9 V conversions. I was hesitant to order one, as the describtion on the S@H website states that the train will not run on Lego Track. But (...) (23 years ago, 23-Sep-01, to lugnet.harrypotter, lugnet.trains)
