Re: New MOC: Hotel Ambassador - (ISCC)

Re: New MOC: Hotel Ambassador - (ISCC)

The hotel follows the practice of the late 19th-early 20th century architects to design buildings as 'columns' with a base (the white ground floor), the shaft (the red middle floors), and a capital (the cornice and roof). This style will be even (...) (23 years ago, 27-Dec-01, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Hotel Ambassador - (ISCC)

You are correct that the crank is for the elevator. One of those unseen but cool details. The "L" shape of the upper floors was a common practice in the early 20th century and I like the added realism it gives. Thanks for the comments! David Kohrman (...)   Re: New MOC: Hotel Ambassador - (ISCC)

(...) building is red. This is something I have noticed in many real buildings, but haven't gotten around to trying it out and seeing how it looks. The roof looks good too, a very nice building. I would commend you for taking the time to deck out (...) (23 years ago, 27-Dec-01, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Hotel Ambassador - (ISCC)

(...) the shape of the upper floors is not a perfect square or rectangle, even though the base is. The card slots behind the receptionist are a cool detail. And can we assume that the crank hidden in the rear connects to a funtioning elevator? Cool! (...) (23 years ago, 26-Dec-01, to lugnet.town, lugnet.build.contests)

I gotta call LEGO tonight, but today I purchased a racers set, #4593 (I also have #4594, & #4583), and received 2 normal large wheels, & 2 of the needed 4 notched larger wheels!
