Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT) —Gerard Steenbeek
I have replicated some more technology used in agriculture.. ;) IVT transmissions are used in tractors for a few years, but are also appearing in busses, cars and other vehicles. An IVT is a Type of CVT (continuously variable transmission). An IVT (...) (21 years ago, 29-Mar-03, to lugnet.technic)

(...) This exact same result can be acheived with the humble differetial - powering it with 2 motors, the output will be the sum of the two inputs. ROSCO (21 years ago, 29-Mar-03, to lugnet.technic)

(...) If you read the whole post you would have seen that I did built exactly that as well... All real life IVTs use planetary gears though, there must be a good reason for that. I will have to do some more research on why they use planetary (...) (21 years ago, 29-Mar-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT) —Gerard Steenbeek
It is probably too expensive to go with oversize hydraulics and cheaper to put mechanical drives in larger equipment... I don`t know for sure though, but a company like John Deere should know what they are doing though... That coaster launch system (...) (21 years ago, 29-Mar-03, to lugnet.technic)
