Thanks God someone started this thread (I was maybe shy...) but I've got
some things to say...
The only good (and relatively cheap) Technic sets that were available here
in Colombia were the 8437 and 8459.... and that was in 1997-1998.... after
that, no more good sets anymore... until 8461 last year but only in 2
cities, both 300 Km away from me, so I can see only Bionicle and Slammers
(both lacking of function... and relatively too pricey!!!!!). Lets put some
examples:
#1) The 8207 (the one that made me go into Technic) costed about US$8 in
1997 and had suspension and steering. Last year, I bought the 8236 at
US$10... it only had steering (because it's a tricycle) and only in the main
model. I felt deceived..
#2) The 1999 South American catalog had in Technic section all Throwbots,
lots of Micro Technic, the 8417, 8444 and 8445... I only knew about 8448 3
years later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrr.....
I don't know if the facts I'll say are related each other, but Technic
crappy sets began to arrive here at the same year Lego opened its US factory
(or at least, the sets produced there arrived here): 1998
Talking about price, Lego bricks are made with high quality... after 6 years
my bricks can still be stacked with no problem. This didn't happen with the
toy I had before Lego... it only survived 3 months. So I think Lego can be a
litlle expensive... but not so wildly expensive!!!!!!!!!!!! (remember: I'm
not Danish or American, so I have to buy Lego in other countries)

At least here it's happening, but I hope Lego won't leave us. From what I
see, I hope (and think) 2003 will save us from crappy sets

| hi i should ask lego directly but they probably have more important work to do :) i'm curious - how many creators build models for lego (especially technic)? some models are really great while some are... pure - is it only because of age of target (...) (21 years ago, 19-Feb-03, to lugnet.technic)
