To be totally honest I don't get the whole hype about the new technic sets
(the two off-road cars). I mean, what's so great about them? First of all
they're cars: by now the most boring kind of set as everything's been done
over and over again.
They -or at least the big one- will be 4x4: 4 wheel drive and suspension,
and steering on 2 wheels. Oh, and it'll have a gearbox. Anything we haven't
seen on 8880?
As for the rest of the set: big wheels. So? V8 engine. Again? The chassis
looks like a bunch of regular beams (at least that's a relief) but the rest
is all panels and tubes.
Looking at the front view of 8465 I get this terrible feeling we're gonna
get yet another steering system with specialised parts, which isn't
something that makes me cheer....
All in all not a very inspiring effort by TLG.
I'll be waiting for the next round of re-releases and the first technic
Legends...

| (...) Yeah, I guess they should just stop making Technic sets altogether since there's nothing left to do that would be new. Okay, sorry for the sarcasm. How about this? The recent string of cars are cooler looking than the old cars. Oh wait, you're (...) (23 years ago, 23-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic)

| (...) I was in the cave back in the 8880's days so I'd like to get my hands of the off-road version ,) I really hope for a snug way to get both power and steering. And if it uses special parts like in 8880 so be it. If it could just be implemented (...) (23 years ago, 23-Jun-01, to lugnet.technic)
