I notice that there is a Force (or Power, Resistence...) rating on the side the white gear. Are they all the same or has LEGO made different ones? When I tried using the white gear (in many different configs) I could never get the gear to throw the (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.technic)

Thanks for the clarification Ralph - some more research is needed on my part I think. There are some good pictures of a Grinder (or "Cold Planer" as they call it) here: (URL) above web site is apparently written with kids in mind but I think it is (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Excellent idea. I've tried making up a cable from a few end connector leftovers, but couldn't put the end connectors back together without squashing the pins inside flat. Due to my clumsiness soldering will be the only option here I think! (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) I've put a couple of rough pictures of my new compressor and electric/pneumatic control box online, but will add more and a fuller description when I get time. It is based around an idea Klaas Meijaard mailed me about some time ago, where he (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) I think you're talking about a third type of machine, which is a grinder. 1. Graders have a blade which is between the front and rear wheels. The blade can swing around, move left and right, and up and down as well as tilt. 2. Scrapers are (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Indeed, while the stackable brick system sounds good for some cases, I think a greater degree of flexibility would be achieved by having the air supplied to each switch seperate hoses as in the current system. Certainly it may be desirable to (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Innuendo noted :-) The funny thing is that I've never really "groked" graders, to use a phrase from a previous thread. It was only recently that I had any idea how they actually worked! I suspect this is probably because I've seen plenty of (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

I don't know if anyone else has come up with this, but here's a way to get really long wires cheap. I'm building a control box for 6 motors with regular switches, since the LEGO ones are too expensive IMHO. And since the control box won't be part of (...)
