Re: I think it's time for a motor grader! Future 8455? too much crane

"Bastonnade" <TBouvart@aedifica.com> wrote in message news:G7Bxt4.8H5@lugnet.com... (...) Only 955 and 8460 are decent mobile cranes. 8868 is a great set, but doesn't count. 8854? What can I say... (...) No, obviously I don't. As Jennifer said, (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Bionicle T.V. advertisment

(...) There isn't any fighting in the advert. It mainly shows the Bionicle in action, while the narrator talks of the legend of Mata Nui. (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: I think it's time for a motor grader! Future 8455?

(...) I'll second this! While I've yet to get the Mindstorms set, electrically controlled pneumatic switches would open up so many possibilities. While it is possible at the moment with various mechanisms, the motor overhead (and size) makes it (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: I think it's time for a motor grader! Future 8455? too much crane

(...) You cannot have too many mobile cranes. And that's a fact ;-) A grader would be nice - there was one as an alternative model in the first Technic fork lift truck, but it was very simplistic. Jennifer Clark (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  New 2001 Technic sets

Seeing this article news://lugnet.com/G7...lugnet.com it occurs to me that the scans may be illegal dealer catalog scans, so I cancel my previous article. Fredrik (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: I think it's time for a motor grader! Future 8455?

That Komatsu motor grader looks really cool, but it's not the coolest model around. There are Caterpillar and Case graders around, and some older models of graders still around have the ability to swing the blade to either side. This is done by (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New 2001 Technic sets

(...) I am going to disagree with you. Speaking as a parent, and a AFOL, I think these sets look quite good for both for parts and play value. I spend a lot of time building RC RCX models – now Lego have caught up with me: (URL) A (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New 2001 Technic sets

(...) Those new dinosaurs are (supposedly) Technic? They're kinda...umm...goofy looking, aren't they? Well, OK, it's just the 'young' ones that are really goofy. The old ones just look like action figures to me - not a whole lotta parts. What are (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.castle)

  Re: 8880 Pleasure...

Yeah i noticed there is a lot of binding in the drivetrain. It seems to be caused by the Perpendicular Axle joiner that is placed in between the bottom suspension arm on the same axle as the bottom of the shocks.. The shocks are also a bit too long. (...)   Re: New 2001 Technic sets

Hmmm. Blue Dragon Arms! Some kind of new (?) Curved cylinder (tapered?) pieces for the dino's tails and necks. I wonder if they will connect using Technic friction pins... That could be cool. I also like the brown "sail" on 7003 the Young (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.castle)

  Re: New 2001 Technic sets

(...) With the possible exception of the 4 x 4 car all of those sets stink. All of those models look very crap. I will still be buying them (some of them anyway) though because it looks like the one saving grace for this garbage is the parts (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Any Ideas= 8448 and 4 wheel steering?

Re: Any Ideas= 8448 and 4 wheel steering?

Similar to what I'm building now I think. I'm using 2 u-joints with 'parallelogram' suspension, and it works ok as long as you make sure that the pivot points for the hub and suspension are vertically aligned witht he u-joint pivot points. That way, (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 8002 Droid Amendment book, here's how to keep your head on :)

If you dig back in the archives a couple of weeks to my original description of the amendments I explained it. The original instructions erroneously show the rubber bands on the bottom. They are shown on the top throughout the rest of the book. (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Force, strenght, did anyone ever measure?

I've never measured it, but if someone can find a value for the elastic modulus of ABS it'd be easy to calculate a rough estimate of how much the force the teeth can take. -Xanthra47 "Duq" <Duq@nlgateway.net> wrote in message (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

Re: 8002 Droid Amendment book, here's how to keep your head on :)

(...) Actually the change here is the top picture. The subsection is upside-down and the rubber band is on the bottom rather than the top. I'm not sure if this was ammended before my copy was produced or not. I did the ammendments that you had put, (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Force, strenght, did anyone ever measure?

If you can, use a worm to drive the rack; you'll be better off. It'll take more load and if some of the other stages in your gear train break or slip (You'll want to have a belt stage in there somewhere so you won't break things anyway), the rack (...)
