Duq, I once had a 8t gear in rack & pinion lifter break on me - it was only a single width rach, though. It was in a fair-ground ride I built (many years ago). The arm it was lifting was pretty heavy, but I didn't actually weigh / measure it. If (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

Hi all, I'm running into trouble with my mobile crane project. The boom is pretty heavy. I want to raise it with a rack/pinion, but I wonder how much force they can take? I reckon that for the first bit up the horizontal force will be around 50N. (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)
