I have a new (I think) method for using the turntables as jumbo gears.
Pop the turntable into two parts. Push the inner teeth down through the hole
and pull up on the outer teeth with your fingers.
Snap a 6 X 2 technic plank over the open hole.
Bush an axle and skewer the center plank hole so the fingers of the bushing
grip the studs of the plank.
Bush the other side for additional support.

I have been using this method to get big gears for a fantastically high gear
ratio with very little friction for my next clock design.
Hope this is useful for someone.
