Man, I'll have to go back through my Mindstorms and see if that's so (only recent Technic-like addition) I don't remember it being that. Of-axis gearing is a mainstay! Tom "R2" <r2eng@primenet.com> wrote in message news:FMEH84.6A1@lugnet.com... (...) (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.technic)

(...) 1998? Or even earlier? The new one was probably introduced because it is somewhat more solid. I remember breaking a few of the old ones when I was a child. Fredrik (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.technic)

(...) FYI: After going through some of my sets, the Barcode truck has all the new type, but the 8286 3-in-1 car has one of the old type. The 8286 and the 8480 are copyrighted 1996. The barcode truck is 1997. I think Fredrik nailed this one.... 1997 (...) (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.technic)

(...) My 1.0 RIS has gears of the new type, as were the gears that came with my Extreme Creatures (it was on sale!) expansion pack. \ This is not a cool thing at all. -Cheese (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.technic)

(...) I first noticed the new type in a parts pack bought from S@H in November 98. Not nice at all, e.g. old square piston engines as done in official models won't be possible with these. - Though personally, I had those engine parts for years w/o (...) (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.technic)
