Can there be a technic.slizer group? —Brian Stuhan
I mean with the throwbots, the roboriders and the upcoming (ok I know not until summer) bionicle, tech-play mecha need a home for discussion. (24 years ago, 22-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

We also need to come up with a good name that refers collectively to all these action-figurish technic sets. Mecha, maybe, but that word makes me think of all the Gundams and such built out of brick that I've seen on the web. On a related note, I (...) (24 years ago, 22-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Can there be a technic.slizer group? —Brian Stuhan
(...) I know slizer is the name for the throwbots, per se, but the other things are closely related (at least IMO) and they need the same group. Slizer sounds cool, anyway. (...) It's a Europe-only set. Darn. (...) I know! I've already come up with (...) (24 years ago, 22-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Can there be a technic.slizer group? —Ray Kremer
(...) these (...) That's not what I mean. Slizer and Throwbots mean the same thing, the latter is the American name and the former is what is used in the rest of the world. What one word or short phrase can we use instead of "Throwbots/Slizers and (...) (24 years ago, 23-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Can there be a technic.slizer group? —Brian Stuhan
What I meant by "the other things" was roboriders and bionicle, which were obviously inspired by the success of throwbots. I live in the US, so the use of the word slizer confused me as well at first, but I think most everyone knows what it is now. (...) (24 years ago, 23-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Can there be a technic.slizer group? —Ray Kremer
(...) And it's now a moot point, because I just bought one at the Toys R Us today. I didn't even think I'd find any until next month at least. Here's the interesting thing. The picture we've all seen with the motorbike and that glider that detatches (...) (24 years ago, 24-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Can there be a technic.slizer group? —Gaurav Thakur
(...) That's kind of similar to what TLC did for the 8485 set back in 1995; the T-rex dinosaur was the featured model in the S@H catalogs, but the main one actually turned out to be the helicopter, with the alternate being the T-rex... (24 years ago, 24-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Can there be a technic.slizer group? —Jonathan Wilson
(...) I dont think its a case of main and alternate, they are just 2 models that can be made from the same set. Its like the 8448 with the convertable and the gull wing doors mode. (24 years ago, 24-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Can there be a technic.slizer group? —Ray Kremer
(...) In cases like this, I define the main model to be the one that uses all the parts and the alternate model to be the one that only used about 2/3 of them. Remember Millenia Throwbot? The little guy on the bike was the main model and the big guy (...) (24 years ago, 24-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Can there be a technic.slizer group? —Brian Stuhan
(...) Do you have pictures? I'd like to see this...it sounds interesting. (...) There's probably a few "surprise" models like this past year's MF; but no, there's nothing else listed that I can think of offhand. Brian ---...--- Only been here a (...)
