  Re: Any musical instrument?

Hmmm. I imagine a piano action wouldn't be out of the question, either. The main problem I can see is with the strings - if you're looking at 4 octaves, thats 48 fairly tight strings, which is going to put a fair bit of strain on whatever base you (...)   Re: Any musical instrument?

Myself being a keyboardist, I've been seriously considering making a single manual harpsichord (with the strings non-LEGO, of course). I've worked out workable mechanisms for the key action. However, it'll take a while to collect the parts for 4 (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Any musical instrument?

(...) Using a non-lego element(ie fishingline) a harpsichord could work. Deap sound box under vs a soundingboard should give air room to spread and amplify a bit. Might try it myself. RCXed tension motor pitch bender for leslie/vibrato/triggered... (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Any musical instrument?

You may be able to make an electronic keyboard using an RCX, but you'd have to use some non-lego to get any decent range of notes.... ROSCO (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Any musical instrument?

(...) Nothing particularly clever... but it should be possible to "tune" one of the electric motors and play notes from an arbitrary scale on it. The faster you drive the motor, the higher the frequency emitted, and vice versa. This works really (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Any musical instrument?

Has anyone made a musical instrument out of Lego? I've searched around and I haven't seen anything. I'm not sure what sort could be made. Lego isn't air-tight enough for a wind instrument, it damps out vibration, it has nothing bell-like, no obvious (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  2001 Technic sets found

I may have missed a post on this, however I found two Technic (2001) sets at my TRU today. In addition to LoM and Movie sets. The numbers were 8240 Slammer Stunt Bike 14.99 8241 Battle Cars 9.99 The battle cars appear to be part of a new line that (...)   Re: Improving Mindstorms R2???

(...) That would be cool, but I'm not sure how to do it. The MindStorms R2 is too small to fit Kenny Baker ... (...) I'm not sure it'll have a MindStorms brain at all. The Microscout is next to useless, and the RCX is too big and too yellow. Maybe (...) (25 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Improving Mindstorms R2???

(...) Interesting. That just seems wrong, somehow. I can't picture it. (...) Yoiks. Good thing that was dropped. Maneuvering thrusters, I could see. In space, not planetside. But not big thrusters. Steve (25 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Pre Dark Age MOC's

(...) I like this one! The colour scheme is nice. It looks very realistic. (...) The 8846 was my fav as well! It has working mechanisms which were very well done. I think it's design hints towards the Land Rover. (...) Wow! I don't have any pre dark (...) (25 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)
