Update to my Caterham 7 technic creation —Neil Everett
Hi, I've uploaded some more photos of this current project, which seems to have been 'in progress' for quite some time now! From the main page go to 'Lego Models' and then 'Caterham 7 Replica' to see the most recent info. For those that have not (...) (24 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.uk)

RE: Update to my Caterham 7 technic creation —Ralph Hempel
(...) WOW, this is a really good model. Super detail, and the .dat files really help with visualizing what's going on. Great job! Cheers, Ralph Hempel - P.Eng ---...--- Check out pbFORTH for LEGO Mindstorms at: (URL) Buy "Extreme Mindstorms: an (...) (24 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Update to my Caterham 7 technic creation —Jennifer Clark
(...) :-) This is indeed an excellent model - my favourite feature has got to be the mudguards that move with the front wheels! Jennifer Clark (24 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Update to my Caterham 7 technic creation —Neil Everett
(...) Jennifer's comment prompted me to add an extra photo. You guessed it, a close up of a front mud guard with a front wheel removed. This makes it clearer how I solved this slightly tricky problem. Neil (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Update to my Caterham 7 technic creation —Neil Everett
(...) It's about a year now since I got my 8448, my first Lego set of any kind since the late eighties. I feel it has taken me all of this time to truly get to grips with using the new parts that have come along in this period, but I am of the (...)    (...) It just felt so right. Attention to detail The scaling Doing a good job of difficult curves. You also managed to get a working transmission into that tight space (thanks for the hints there) And I like the blending of technic and bricks. To (...)         Re: Update to my Caterham 7 technic creation —Neil Everett
(...) I kept the scale as near to possible correct by digging out all the dimensions of the real car and then scaling with respect to the 8448 wheels. I've got 12 years worth of Autocar magazine (I am a car nut as well as Lego nut...) to refer to! (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Update to my Caterham 7 technic creation —Jennifer Clark
(...) I can fully empathise with those weeks spent getting things right - it is as if the model is sitting there teasing you, telling you that there is a way to get things working correctly, it's just that you haven't found it... yet. The (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

As mentioned on the site, I feel that the rubber bands spoil the purity of the mud guard solution (oh dear, Lego really is getting to my head...), but hard as (...)    (...) Nah, I think you're just fine with the elastic bands. They are legit pieces anyway aren't they - the "Mud Masher" uses them as part of its steering - so the purists shoud be happy. Jennifer Clark (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)
