The 4.5V one was pathetic. I tried to power the 8860 with it, without the
benefit of the external gear reduction box specified in the instructions, and
it required so much gearing down that it moved abysmally slowly. However, I
discovered that you could quite safely put 9V through it, which improved
matters considerably, although it was obviously still nothing like as powerful
as even the proper old style 9V technic motor.
I always wondered what the black motor was like - I saw them in the
catalogues, but never in reality.

These have 4 holes for the metal pins. The technic motors 4.5 and 12 volts both just (...) (24 years ago, 3-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)
