  Black old style motor

I found a black old style technic motor in a local shop(servicepack) At the time, i thougt it was a plain 4.5 volt type, but later discovered that it was a 12 volt motor. Have this motor appeared in another set than 880? Any information, history (...) (24 years ago, 28-Sep-00, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Wow! How strong is it? Compared to the new-style geared 9V motor. Is it also geared down or what? Tell me :) TGIF! /Tobbe (24 years ago, 29-Sep-00, to lugnet.technic)

Tobbe, IIRC, the 12V motor was similar to the old 4.5V motor (around the same vintage), of which I have one, and which is similar in power to the 9V geared motors. The 4.5V one (and I think the 12V one also?) only has 4 holes for the really old (...) (24 years ago, 3-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

(...) The 4.5V one was pathetic. I tried to power the 8860 with it, without the benefit of the external gear reduction box specified in the instructions, and it required so much gearing down that it moved abysmally slowly. However, I discovered that (...) (24 years ago, 3-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

They have an internal gearing indeed and these also have 4000 rpm. But when the motors (...) (24 years ago, 8-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)
