If you think about it a normal bog standard trailer has 4 wheels one at each
corner, like a table has legs. This is a very stable configuration.

If you built a six line modular trailer from lego (12 stub axles, 24 tyres, 12
cylinders) you would have to subdivde the pnumatics into 4 zones, one for each
corner. Otherwise as soon as you loaded it the weight of the load would cause
the trailer to roll (or pitch). Like a sinking ship as soon as it started going
one way the situation would only get worse.

The problem with this arrangement would be that if one of the subdivided zones
went onto higher terrain the trailer would tip over slightly, and the load
acting on the other zones would be uneven, slightly defeating the point of the
exercise. This must be why the real thing has a computer to self-level.
